1. Attendance:
Because of the short time period, it is important that students attend every single class. Students will be asked to leave the course with no refund after three days or fifteen hours of unexplained absences.
2. Promptness:
Late arrivals disrupt the lesson and other students. Students who arrive late may be refused admittance to class. The time missed will be counted in the overall absence accumulation. Every minute late will be counted and will apply to overall hours.
3. Missed Tests and Exams:
The only reason to miss a test/exam is illness supported by a doctor’s note. Any missed test without appropriate reason will cost $50 to make up.
4. Attitude:
It is very important that all students who will be attending summer school are willing to put forth the maximum effort required to achieve excellent marks. Students’ achievement/progress and effort will be reviewed at the end of every week (it will also be counted on day to day basis). A student may be removed from the course if the required effort and attitude have not been put forth.
5. Assignments:
In accordance with Growing Success teachers will monitor students’ submissions and make students aware of the necessity of submitting work on time. This may entail the implementation of a student contract, meeting with the principal to discuss the importance of meeting deadlines, informing parents/guardians or any other methods that will further student success.
6. Respect:
Students are expected to respect other students, staff and the school. Classes at Learning Genius Academy/ Advanced Tutoring Centre are focused to curriculum and students needs.
7. Plagiarism:
Any incident of plagiarism or cheating will result in a resubmission/rewrite of that particular assignment/test at the end of the course on the student’s own time and at his/her own expense to pay for the creation and marking of a new assessment. This incident will be documented in the office. A second incident of plagiarism or cheating in any course will result in a mark of zero for that assignment. For example, if you cheat on a math test and then plagiarize an English essay, you will receive a zero on the essay.
8. Dress Code:
The school has no dress code policy, but students are expected to wear clothing which covers the top up to full neck and bottom below ankle.
9. Cleanliness:
It is very important to maintain a clean and organized class room. Students cannot paste gum on desks or write on desks. All garbage must be thrown in the garbage bin students are expected to clean up after themselves. Students who fail to maintain cleanliness of school property may be removed from the program.
10. Ongoing Evaluation:
For the summer, there will be a maximum of 5-6 major evaluations in the form of tests, projects, presentations, etc. (Please look at course outlines for details)
11. Final Evaluation:
For summer courses, there will only be one final exam worth 30% or less depending upon the guidelines in the course outlines given to students on the first day of school.
12. Smoking:
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere on Learning Genius Academy/Advanced
- Tutoring Centre property. If any students do no follow this policy, they will be removed from the courses.
13. 100% fee is due before the start of the classes and is non-refundable in any circumstances.
14. Refund Policy:
- Parents/Guardian must give in writing the withdrawal of the student’s admission.
- Full fees will be refunded if admission is withdrawn 15 days prior to the commencement of the classes.
- 50% fees will be refunded, if admission is withdrawn 7 days before the commencement of the classes.
- No fee will refunded after the commencement of the classes.
